in Entertainment, Espectáculos, Leisure

The musical Company, winner of the Max for Best Musical, has opened at the recently inaugurated Umusic Hotel Teatro Albéniz in Madrid (Calle de La Paz, 11), a classic produced, directed and starring Antonio Banderas with Teatro del Soho CaixaBank.

Antonio Banderas is accompanied by a cast of leading figures from the Spanish musical scene, in alphabetical order: María Adamuz, Albert Bolea, Lorena Calero, Javier Enguix, Laura Enrech, Lydia Fairén, Robert González, Dulcinea Juárez, Silvia Luchetti, Julia Möller, Paco Morales, Marta Ribera, Carlos Seguí, Rai Borrell, Bealia Guerra, Beatriz Mur, Álvaro Puertas and Lourdes Zamalloa.

Considered a masterpiece of the genre, Company premiered on Broadway in 1970 and won six Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The musical director of the CaixaBank Soho Theatre, Arturo Díez-Boscovich, conducts a 26-piece orchestra playing live on an immersive set set set in the New York landscapes of the 1970s.

The musical Company is centred on Bobby (Antonio Banderas) – a single man incapable of making a commitment in his relationships with women – and his five pairs of friends and three girlfriends. It is made up of short scenes presented in no chronological order and linked together by the celebration of Bobby’s 35th birthday. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
