A great clown, Guillem Albà, arrives at the Teatro del Barrio, with ‘Calm!’

November 23, 2022
in Entertainment, Leisure

Guillem Albà, the award-winning Catalan artist, winner of the Max Award 2021 for best stage direction, lands at the Teatro del Barrio (calle Zurita, 20) from today until 27 November with the show CALMA!

This production, starring this famous clown -one of the great national references-, is an energetic and optimistic production of visual theatre, puppets, shadows and gestural theatre to laugh at the rush of contemporary society.

Guillem Albà asks: “Please, disconnect your phone, it will only be for a while. Do it for the people around you and for yourself. Enough of so many inputs, so much information and so much haste. Whatever you are seeing, no matter how bad it is, leave it behind and try to put emotion before reason. Leave your adult behind. Let’s stop and live in the moment. Let’s slow down, even if only for the time we are about to share. That we are much more ephemeral than we think. That we don’t know how long it will last, or when it will end. Let’s make the most of the fact that we are alive. Let’s stop fooling around. Let’s enjoy ourselves. Let’s share precious moments… and let the CALM begin!”.

With his new creation, Guillem Albà tells, alone and without words, a fact so complex and at the same time so everyday: haste. This “running all the time” in which we live nowadays. CALMA! leads the spectator to enjoy an experience that is at times comic, at times poetic. With the clown as a flag, either through puppets, gesture, shadows or music, the artist will make the spectator question his daily life and his own vital journey, reflecting on whether it is worth running so much, if we are doing what really fills us and, ultimately, if we want to continue like this or if we want to change it.
