Oman’s ambassador, Omar Kathiri, highlighted the collaboration between private Omani and Spanish companies as one of the keys to the development of bilateral economic relations during the reception he hosted on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the Sultanate’s National Day.

“It has been a year marked by many events that have boosted a continuous bilateral dialogue, in which consultations between our ministers have allowed us to recover our cooperation,” said the ambassador during his speech in Spanish, in which he also referred to the “firm” cooperation in the area of Defence, “which shows the level of maturity reached in our relations”.

These relations are strengthened by business collaboration in the private sector, since “the more than thirty Spanish companies operating in Oman play a key role in developing important works and continue to contribute to the advancement of our economic relations”.

The reception for the ambassador, who recently took up his post, was attended on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by María Sebastián de Erice, the ambassadors’ introducer, and Alberto Ucelay, director general for the Maghreb, the Mediterranean and the Middle East, as well as the second ambassadors’ introducer, Christian Celdrán, and Jorge Roméu, deputy director general in charge of the Office of Migration Affairs.

Also present at the event were the Chief of Staff of the Spanish Army, General Amador Enseñat, and the Deputy Director of International Relations of the Madrid City Council, Rocío Picón, whom the Ambassador thanked for her efforts to have the City Council’s music band participate in the event.

Also in attendance were numerous ambassadors accredited in Spain, including those of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Tunisia, Morocco, Nepal, Peru, Iran, Mali, Democratic Republic of Congo, Austria, Slovenia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Lithuania, India, Pakistan and Vietnam.
