The Gibraltar Gibunco International Literary Festival will be re-established for its eighth edition from 25-27 November, after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid pandemic.
As in previous years, the Festival will include a schools programme where a number of international authors will visit schools across Gibraltar to talk to pupils about their books. The Gibunco Group will sponsor the event, as it has done for all previous editions of the Festival since 2013. This allows the festival to be held at no cost to the taxpayer. Gibraltar’s Minister for Enterprise and Tourism, Vijay Daryanani, welcomed the sponsorship, saying: “I am grateful to John A Bassadone for his family’s continued sponsorship of this event. We simply could not have held the Festival without his financial support. The previous seven editions were a great success and the Festival has built up a great reputation in literary circles. This is also in line with the Government’s policy of attracting event-linked overnight tourism”.
John A. Bassadone, Chairman of the Gibunco Group, added, “We are absolutely delighted to continue to support this event in the same way that my family has done for the past seven festivals. Events like this put Gibraltar on the map and it is a pleasure to support the Government’s vision in this regard”. All updates and information about the Festival can be found on the Festival’s website.
