Today, from 10.30 am to 3.30 pm, Casa América is setting up the chapel for the Cuban singer-songwriter and guitarist Pablo Milanés, who died yesterday in Madrid, in its Cervantes Room.
At the request of his family, the chapel will be open to all those who wish to pay tribute to the committed composer. Public access will be through the main entrance of Casa de América, located in Plaza de Cibeles. The Cuban singer and composer, who lived between revolution and love, died in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Madrid at the age of 79, where he was hospitalised due to an oncohaematological disease he had been fighting for some time.
Pablo Milanés was the author of romantic hymns such as Yolanda, Para vivir, or Ámame como soy and political ones such as Yo pisaré las calles nuevamente, but distanced from the Cuban regime he had encouraged in his early days, he was the most visible face of the Nueva Trova Cubana alongside his compatriot Silvio Rodríguez.
