Next Sunday 20 November, at 7 p.m., the great Moscow pianist Yulianna Avdeeva will perform as part of the Círculo de Cámara cycle at the Teatro Fernando de Rojas (C. del Marqués de Casa Riera, 2).
In 2010, at the age of 25, Yulianna Avdeeva won first prize in the Chopin Competition, possibly the most prestigious competition for pianists in the world. Since then she has been building a solid international career with a repertoire that moves basically between Bach and the great classics of the 20th century. Chopin continues to be a fundamental pillar in his performances, as he will show in this recital, which begins by reviewing various corners of the musician’s catalogue (four mazurkas from 1839, the powerful Scherzo in C-sharp minor, the delightful Barcarolle and the somewhat enigmatic Polonaise-fantasy). It then moves on to the virtuoso Bach of the Partitas, perhaps with the most popular of them all, the 2nd; and ends with another textbook virtuoso, Rachmaninov and his 2nd sonata, a mature work of spectacular ardour and brilliance.
