Together with the members of the EUNIC Madrid network, the Instituto Francés of Madrid is organising a round table discussion this evening at 19.30 on the theme Exile, artists and creation, voices from Ukraine. The event is free of charge, with advance booking required by clicking on this link.
Adrian Mocanu (in the photo), Ukrainian musician in residence at Casa de Velázquez; Ixone Sádaba, founder of Moving Artists and member of the TEJA initiative; Judith Depaule, director of l’Atelier des artistes en exil; Mariia Yarchuk, artist in residence at Hablarenarte and director of the Dnipro Centre for Contemporary Culture (DCCC) and Alfonso Armada, journalist for Reporters Without Borders and moderator of the debate, will be present at the event.
In this singular moment that Europe is going through, Ukrainian artists in exile are immersed in this tension, and their artistic practice is transformed by it. To express themselves, to say, to bear witness to the ongoing horror. But also to stay the course: to continue to maintain the balance of unrest within themselves so as to leave no room for chaos and despair.
In order to accompany these artists and cultural actors in their situation of exile, to make known the generous initiatives of reception and creation that have thus arisen, EUNIC Madrid proposes this series of meetings ‘Exile, artists and creation: voices from Ukraine’, which will take place in different cultural centres.
