It is absolutely unacceptable and very dangerous to accuse that electoral fraud has been committed when the decisions of the citizens do not favour you. Creating such distrust and animosity about the system and those who work to make the complicated US voting system work can lead to hatred and violent confrontation as demonstrated by the storming of the Capitol in Washington.
The system has been equipped with the necessary control mechanisms to avoid any temptation of infiltration or manipulation to benefit one party or the other during the vote count. In fact, there is no federal system for the entire United States; each state and even some districts have their own voting and counting mechanism and have no intention of changing it to speed up data collection precisely because they are scrupulous but slow systems that seek to ensure that each vote is allocated to the appropriate candidate. Nothing is perfect and there have been some controversial cases such as in the state of Florida with the dubious butterfly ballots, which gave the presidency to Republican George Bush Jr. to the detriment of Democrat Al Gore. No one subsequently campaigned to delegitimize the new president, nor did anyone argue for years that fraud had taken place. The system was not questioned.
Now Donald Trump seeks to bend the system to his personal interests. No one has been able to prove the accusations of fraud by this peculiar ex-president who has persevered in his disqualifications of the Democrats and President Joe Biden during the recent Midterm congressional election campaign to renew the House of Representatives, part of the Senate, governors and other high state offices. Despite the bad predictions of the polls, due to the usual erosion of the party in power in these elections, the Democrats have held on and secured control of the Senate while the Republicans have regained the majority in the House of Representatives, by the skin of their teeth.
What seems very clear is that Trump has not achieved his goals. Many of his candidates have been defeated and within the Republican Party a serious candidate for the White House in the 2024 elections has emerged in the form of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. In addition to the votes he has won, an overwhelming support, this new political figure has no appointments or accounts with Justice. Surely Trump will be revolted. We shall see whether or not he announces that he is running to try to be the Republican candidate. President Biden’s words still ring out: “Democracy has won. Today is a good day for the United States”, referring to the defeat of Trump who has continued with his plans to run for the presidency in the 2024 elections. We will have to wait for the results of the primaries because among Republicans there are growing misgivings about Trump. Justice is slow, but it comes.
