The Diplomat
The new Ambassador of Colombia to Spain, Eduardo Ávila Navarrete, presented the Copies of his Letters of Credence last week to the Ambassadors’ introducer, María Sebastián de Erice.
Eduardo Ávila went to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters at the Palacio de Santa Cruz last Friday, after arriving in Spain a few days ago to take up his post.
As The Diplomat has already reported, Eduardo Ávila is very close to Colombia’s new president, Gustavo Petro, and comes from the business world.
A native of Tunja, the capital of the department of Boyacá, Ávila was directly involved in the election campaign that brought Petro to the presidency of Colombia and in recent years has been linked to the company Setronics, which specialises in communication and electronic security services, where he held the position of commercial director.
