The Diplomat
Raluca Taloș, Counsellor at the Romanian Embassy, has been elected new President of the Association of Foreign Diplomats (ADE), at the Extraordinary General Assembly held in Madrid.
The Romanian diplomat, who arrived in Spain in August 2021, replaces Gemma Raduán, from the Embassy of Andorra, although in recent months the presidency was occupied, on an interim basis, by the Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Paraguay, Liz Coronel.
The other members of the Board of Directors were also elected at the same assembly: the Vice-President, Rosa Myrtha Lexima, from the Embassy of Haiti; the Secretary General, Josñe Manuel Vargas, from the Embassy of the Dominican Republic; the Treasurer, Stephen Fernández, from the Embassy of the United States; and the members Victoria Pauwles (Colombia), Liz Coronel (Paraguay), Arjun Adhikari (Nepal) and Julio Ubillús (Perú).
The Association of Foreign Diplomats was founded in 1929 and its main objectives are: to promote ties between foreign diplomats accredited in Spain; to provide foreign diplomats with better knowledge of and closer ties with our country, its culture and values; and to promote solidarity with charitable institutions. To this end, among other things, it organises official activities such as debates on current affairs and meetings with Spanish personalities, aimed at getting to know the country better.
