The Guatemalan ambassador, Mónica Bolaños, pointed out that “Guatemalan coffee is a great ambassador that has taken the taste of quality and good taste around the world“, during the Tasting of Guatemalan Coffees with a touch of Guatemalan chocolate organised at the InterContinental Hotel in Madrid.
The event was organised by the international movement The Voice of Coffee Guatemala with the support and sponsorship of Banco Industrial, INGUAT, MCR Global Services España and important Guatemalan coffee producers, and presented the best of the Central American country’s origin coffee, showcasing the different varieties of speciality coffee. The event was supported and accompanied by the Embassy of Guatemala.
“Each bean, roasted to perfection and turned into a cup of coffee, is synonymous with work and development for Guatemalans”, continued Mónica Bolaños, who added that “Guatemalan coffee is a source of pride for our country“.
“For its part”, continued the Guatemalan ambassador, “our cocoa is considered a treasure of the Mayan culture, we are a privileged country for having the perfect climate and geography for the production of this fruit, which today is in demand for the particular flavour that the Guatemalan soil gives it and the high quality standards that are carefully worked throughout its production process.”
Mónica Bolaños concluded by highlighting that “in the coffee year 2021/22 (from 1 October 2021 to 30 September 2022), 4.33 million quintals of gold coffee were exported, 3.32 million 60 kg bags, equivalent to 1,136,175,862 dollars.”
Guatemala is a leading coffee exporting country in the region, making it one of the ten largest coffee producers in the world. It has great opportunities to communicate unique experiences of its coffee palate to important international markets.
