Since last Friday, the exhibition Tutankhamun, The Immersive Exhibition has been on display at Matadero Madrid’s Nave 6, a unique experience that coincides with the centenary of the discovery of the pharaoh’s tomb, where visitors can discover how one of history’s iconic figures lived, visiting his tomb, temples, treasures and secrets.
The exhibition will transport visitors through its 1,200 m2 in 2D and 3D to the primordial time in which the gods of the Egypt of the pyramids emerged. Wind, water and the forces of nature give shape to incredible myths and to the birth of the pharaohs themselves, who, like Tutankhamun, are created by the gods.
The passage of time has meant that the majestic constructions of those times have reached the present day faded and lacking the colour that covered their columns and reliefs. In the exhibition, they can be seen in their original state, just as they were more than 3,500 years ago. It will be possible to visit and walk through the tomb of the young pharaoh, one of the most extraordinary discoveries in the history of archaeology, visiting all its treasures on a scale of 1:1. Its discoverer, Howard Carter, will tell visitors in his own voice about the sensational discovery of more than 5,500 objects (many of them gold), made 100 years ago.
Tutankhamun, The Immersive Exhibition also has a virtual reality room, where the spectator will be the protagonist of a journey through the tortuous paths of the Book of the Dead, until they reach the trial of Osiris and, if they manage to pass all the tests successfully, reach eternal life in the fields of lalu, the “afterlife” of the ancient Egyptians.
