This evening at 7.30 p.m., the Instituto Francés of Madrid opens in its Gallery 10 the exhibition Portavoz Europa, an educational and cultural project through a photography competition aimed at promoting multilingualism and cultural diversity.
The competition was held in Spain, Italy, Portugal and the Czech Republic, with the aim of promoting the learning of French in schools and participating in the construction of a cultural Europe and the European Education Area. More than 900 pupils took part in the third edition of the Portavoz competition organised by the Instituto Francés of Spain and supported by the Fundación Orange and La Fábrica.
In line with the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the theme chosen for this year’s competition was “building Europe”, with the aim of provoking artistic reflection on this theme among the young contestants. The main idea of the Spokesperson Europe project was to reflect this reflection through a photograph accompanied by a caption in five languages (including French) in order to promote multilingualism and intercultural dialogue.
To determine the three winning photographs, the Instituto Francés of Spain brought together professional photographers from each participating country: Eduardo Nave, Spanish photographer; Rita Castro Neves, Portuguese photographer and teacher; Luca Sola, Italian documentary photographer and teacher, and Catherine Radosa, artist and coordinator of a project of free artistic expression for women artists, representing the Czech jury.
