On the occasion of Breast Cancer month and coinciding with 19 October, World Breast Cancer Day, the Instituto Seda España is organising the First Short Story Literary Competition: Woman in silk and pink.
The aim of this literary competition is to raise awareness of this disease as told by those who suffer from it, its consequences and how to deal with it. We will receive stories written by the women themselves, which can serve as therapy for those who write them, help those affected and reach the greatest number of people. They should tell how it affects each woman who suffers from it, how she deals with it, how she manages her daily life, her relationship with her family, with her surroundings, at work, how she faces her new reality, how she overcomes it, what can be learnt from this experience, the hope of a cure. Originals will be received until 15 December 2022 at correo@nexosalianza.com.
Stories by women who are suffering from breast cancer, or have suffered from it, their relatives, carers or specialised health personnel will be accepted. The length of the story should be between 1 and 10 pages maximum (numbered pages) and the texts should be sent together with the author’s details, email and telephone number. They can be signed with the author’s real name or with a pseudonym (adding an envelope with the author’s real name, which will not be published). All the stories will be published on the website www.silkspaininstitute.com.
A selection will be made of the most outstanding or most read stories, which will be used to produce a paper book/booklets for distribution, so that they can be made available to all those who request them. The 5 best of each booklet will be given a diploma. The sale of these books (once printing and distribution costs have been covered) will be donated to the Spanish Breast Cancer Federation FECMA.
