The 15th edition of Getafe Negro, the Madrid crime novel festival that has become the epicentre of national and international crime novels, will be held at the Feria del Libro until 30 October. Poland will be the guest country of this new edition and will also give visibility to Ukrainian culture.
The 2022 edition will bring back the tradition of having a guest country. In the presentation of the event, Gabriela Słowińska, director of the Polish Institute of Culture, pointed out that “in such delicate times as the present we cannot forget Ukraine, which, in its geographical and historical proximity to Poland, has awakened many and very diverse forms of help from our country since the war began last February.
On the other hand, for yet another year, the José Luis Sampedro and Novela Negra Ciudad de Getafe prizes will be awarded, as well as the micro-story prize. And work is being done to recover and expand the network of bookshops in Madrid linked to the Festival. Along these lines, activities will be organised in the bookshops Estudio en Escarlata, Taiga and Burma. Regarding the contents, Getafe Negro will emphasize the promotion of the reading of the noir genre, especially in relation to the world of cinema, which will be very present in this fifteenth edition.
