His Majesty the King yesterday received the Letters of Credence of six new ambassadors accredited to Spain, in a ceremony that dates back to the 18th century, and which has remained practically intact in its development to the present day.

On this occasion, the ambassadors of the Netherlands, Nepal, Denmark, Iraq, Kuwait and Estonia arrived at the Royal Palace in period carriages from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Plaza de la Provincia.

The first to present their Letters of Credence was the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Roel Nieuwenkamp, who until now held the same post in Argentina.

This was followed by the new Ambassador of the Kingdom of Nepal, Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal, who was previously the representative of her country in Oman.

The third to present his Letters of Credence was the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark, Michael Braad, who was previously Ambassador to Greece and Cyprus.

Then it was the turn of the new diplomatic representative of the Republic of Iraq, Salih Husain Ali Ali.

He was followed by the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait, Khalifa M. Kh. H. Alkhorafi, until recently Consul General of Kuwait in Guangzhou (China).

Finally, the new representative of the Republic of Estonia, Andres Rundu, who was Ambassador to Spain from 2004-2009, presented his credentials.

All of them, after presenting their accreditations to the Monarch, held a conversation with him, in which they analysed their respective countries’ relations with Spain.
