It’s 60 years since the first modern music matinees at the old Circo Price (1962-1964), events that forever marked the pop and rock scene in Spain. And what better way to celebrate it than with Twist, a revolving show, rock circus and circus rock.
With the direction and dramaturgy of Marta Pazos, the audience will travel back 60 years to attend one of those rock matinees, Festivales de Música Moderna, which took place on the stage of the Price; but they will also coexist with circus artists, technicians and cages with wild animals, heirs of a long circus tradition. An improbable communion provoked by the irrepressible desire to dance of a generation that found in the Circo Price a space to celebrate life.
Groups such as Los Relámpagos, Los Pekenikes, the Diamond Boys with Albert Hammond, and the debut of Miguel “Mike” Ríos took part. These concerts, held on Sunday mornings, were received like a breath of fresh air by hundreds of young people. The Teatro Circo Price (Ronda de Atocha, 35) remembers them with a very special production, a meeting of creators from different disciplines, from circus to rock, from musical theatre to visual arts, until 6 November.
