The director of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), Antón Leis, and the director of the Institute of Fiscal Studies of the Ministry of Finance and Public Function (IEF), Alain Cuenca García, signed last Tuesday a General Action Protocol (PGA) for the implementation of cooperation programs to improve public finances.
The main objective of this Protocol, which will have a duration of four years extendable for another four years, is to promote the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals included in the 2030 Agenda, favoring joint actions and the development of training and technical assistance programs in the field of Public Finance.
Specifically, both institutions will collaborate in the development of actions aimed at improving the management of public finance services, and therefore public revenue and expenditure, such as statistics, tax management or public auditing, among others. The gender perspective will be a cross-cutting theme in all actions carried out jointly.
“With this signature, AECID takes a step forward in its commitment to the defense of human rights and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals,” the Agency said in a press release.
The agreement also reinforces the commitments assumed by the IEF -an autonomous body of the Ministry of Finance and Public Function in charge of training and research in the area of Public Finance- for the promotion and implementation of the 2030 Agenda, including actions aimed at training civil servant and non-civil servant personnel in this area, including financial and tax administration and management techniques, and budgeting and public spending.
