The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, spoke yesterday with his Ukrainian counterpart, Dimitro Kuleba, about the next military aid package to be sent by Spain.
The conversation, via a telephone call, was revealed on their respective Twitter accounts, both by Kuleba and Albares.
According to Kuleba, Albares told him that “Spain will strengthen its political, economic and military support” to Ukraine. In this regard, the two discussed “Spain’s next military aid package for Ukraine”, although he did not go into further details.
For his part, the Spanish minister said that he had conveyed to his Ukrainian counterpart his condemnation of “the indiscriminate bombings against the civilian population” that have been taking place in recent days over Kiev and other Ukrainian cities.
“Those responsible must be identified and brought to justice”, stressed the minister, who made it clear that “Spain will continue to support the Ukrainian government and people in defence of their sovereignty and territorial integrity”.
The government has provided few details about the military aid it has been sending to Ukraine since Russia’s invasion on 24 February, claiming that this is necessary for the security of the shipments.
