The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, will appear this coming Thursday before the plenary session of Congress to report on the last European Council and on the measures adopted to respond to the crisis caused by the war in Ukraine.
Specifically, Sanchez will report on the decisions of the informal European Council held last Friday in Prague, which addressed the Russian war in Ukraine, the energy crisis and the economic situation in the EU, and at the end of which the President of the Government confirmed that, before the next European Council at the end of October, he will hold a meeting in Paris with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, and the Portuguese Prime Minister, António Costa, to address the issue of energy interconnections, including the MidCat trans-Pyrenean gas pipeline, which France opposes in principle. Pedro Sánchez will also report to the Lower House on the economic and social measures adopted by the Government in response to the crisis caused by the war in Ukraine.
The plenary session will start with the appearance of the chief executive, for which there will be no time limit, as reported yesterday by the Congress in a press release. After his intervention, the representatives of each parliamentary group, in order from highest to lowest and closing the Socialist Group, will be able to set positions, ask questions or make observations, after which Sánchez will answer the representatives of the parliamentary groups.
