In its Sala Torres García (entrance at C/ Marqués del Duero, 2), Casa América presents next Saturday the exhibition Contemporary Brazilian Landscape, presented by the Contempo Gallery (São Paulo, Brazil) under the concept “everything that the eye can see is a landscape. Everything the ear can hear is a landscape. Therefore, everything the human being can feel is a landscape”.
This concept is presented as a possibility of offering the spectator the possibility of contemplating the works that form part of this aesthetic journey. To this end, it relies on the most expressive names in its collection, five artists who present diverse visions of the current Brazilian artistic spectrum, each of them seeking their own path: Ana Durães, Josué Pavel Herrera, Luiz Dolino, Rubens Ianelli and Tiago Tharm.
In 2022 Brazil celebrated the centenary of Modern Art Week, a milestone that marked a before and after in the trajectory of the visual arts in this country. Precisely from that event onwards, Brazilians began to live with works that clearly revealed the commitment of their avant-garde artists to the nationalist character of their respective languages. The inaugural works of Tarsila do Amaral, Anita Malfatti and Emiliano Di Cavalcanti date from this period and, to a certain extent, represent a cry for independence from the European canons that had been in force until then.
