The Centro Coreográfico María Pagés (CCMP) and the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo in Bogotá, in collaboration with Fundación María Pagés, Ministerio De Relaciones Exteriores-Embassy of Colombia in Spain, Ayuntamiento de Fuenlabrada, Inaem, Comunidad de Madrid and A/CE, present this evening at 7 p.m. (12 p.m. in Colombia) online and in person as part of the Colombia baila cycle, the show Colombia baila en España (Colombia dances in Spain). The Cycle is made up of 4 virtual meetings and 1 face-to-face meeting. Its aim is to bring together notable personalities from the world of culture and dance from the two countries. The events will be broadcast on the YouTube channels of the CCMP and the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo in Bogota, as well as on their networks.
Colombia is a multicultural and multi-ethnic country. Its cultural richness is multifaceted and can undoubtedly constitute a paradigm of knowledge of our open identity. Spain and Colombia share the same cultural heritage and the same history of sensitivity. The greatness of this legacy lies in the fact that both have been nourished and enriched over time by the singularities contributed by the new ideas and currents of thought that our environments have sculpted.
The history of Spain and Colombia is marked by the beautiful phenomenon of mobility, very present in the flamenco aesthetic discourse. In our journeys back and forth we have not ceased to transfer to each other the best sages that our peoples have forged together. The Colombia baila cycle is born precisely from the need to preserve this common attribute and to pay homage to it through dance.
