Presented by the Economic and Cultural Office of Taipei in Spain, the Taiwanese company Bare Feet Dance Theatre presents the show An Eternity Before and After at the 25th edition of the Fira Mediterránea de Manresa.
This theatre and dance show, which has the collaboration of the National Theatre and Concert Hall and the Ministry of Culture of Taiwan in collaboration with the Fira Mediterránea de Manresa, seeks to bring meaning to life from the deepest roots of Taiwanese culture.
Directed by Taiwanese choreographer and artistic director Lin I-Chin, the show will be presented on Sunday 9 September at 5 p.m. at the Teatro Kursaal in Manresa, Barcelona.
An Eternity Before and After explores the insignificance of life and how it can become creation, investigating the incessant journey of the human body. This is achieved by reflecting the existing truth with slight vibrations, creating structures of space and time through revolving repetitions; provoking dialogue and impact between body, mind, physical movements and organic matter. Field research on the traditions of songs for the dead and other phases of immersion in folk symbols and ritual aesthetics contributed to the theatrical artistic creation of the work.
As part of the fair’s educational activities, a knowledge transfer laboratory on the process of developing a contemporary language through traditional dance roots will be held for dancers and choreographers by choreographer and artistic director Lin I-Chin, tomorrow Thursday at 16.30.
Founded in 2014, Taiwan’s Bare Feet Dance Theatre company masterfully fuses the disciplines of dance and theatre, focusing its work on the traditional culture, rituals, language, customs, cuisine, character and climate found in local Taiwan. Bare Feet Dance Theatre seeks to find the kinetic energy fundamental to the human body and rediscover the source of our physical body through Taiwanese culture.
