Takahiro Nakamae will be Japan’s new ambassador to Spain, replacing Kenji Hiramatsu, who will return to Tokyo at the end of October after having been in our country since January 2020.
Nakamae had been the Japanese ambassador to Argentina since July 2019, a post he reached after having headed the Latin American Affairs Office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for two years.
A diplomat since 1985, the new Japanese ambassador is 62 years old and a graduate of the Faculty of Law at the University of Tokyo.
Throughout his diplomatic career, he has held various posts related to the Latin American world, including head of affairs for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, as well as having been Consul General of Japan in Sao Paulo and having been posted to the Embassy in Brazil.
Takahiro Nakamae has also been posted to the Permanent Mission of his country to the UN and has been Director of Communication and Information at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
