Theatre, music and traditional dances enlivened the ‘Thai Nite’ event, organised by the Thai Embassy at the Westin Palace Hotel in Madrid to promote the Asian country as a commercial and tourist destination.
The dinner was attended by a hundred guests, including diplomats, Spanish businessmen and travel agency representatives, who were able to sample a wide selection of Thai cuisine prepared by the chefs of the Embassy and the Yothai restaurant.
During the event, Ambassador Phantipha Ekarohit invited those present to collaborate in the promotion of tourism and economic cooperation between Spain and Thailand because, she said, “we are an important tourist destination, but we are also an important business and investment centre” which is of interest to Spanish companies that want to internationalise their business in the Asia-Pacific area.
Students from the Thai University of Dramatic Arts staged traditional dance performances, a pair of muay thai fighters gave an exhibition of the ancient combat and Embassy staff acted as models in a fashion show of new designs made in Thailand.
