The Instituto Francés of Madrid and the Casa de Velázquez are teaming up once again this year to present the exhibition En sí, para ti, más allá (On Yourself, for You, Beyond), which invites us to think about the notion of humanity through figurative paintings. The opening will take place tomorrow Thursday at 19.30 in the Galeria del 10 of the Institute. Free entrance to the opening with previous reservation at this link.
Curated by María Santoyo, at the invitation of the Académie de France à Madrid, the exhibition reveals the work of seven artists, former and current residents of Casa de Velázquez: Carmen Ayala Marín, Maxime Biou, Nathalie Bourdreux, Félix Deschamps Mak, Eve Malherbe, Laurent Proux and Xie Lei. With very different figurative works, the exhibition offers a reflection on the notion of corporeality in painting, but also on our own humanity.
The dancers Agnes López Río and Isaac Montllor will present a unique performance during the opening, in which dance and the visual arts will meet in a multidisciplinary way to reflect on the eternal questions about the individual and his or her constant search for meaning. Opening up the contingency that the mere practice of art offers; meaning is in the search itself.
