Tomorrow Wednesday at 19.30, the Théâtre de l’Instituto Francés presents a round table discussion entitled What geopolitics(s) for Europe, with Michel Foucher (pictured) and Mira Milosevich-Juaristi, moderated by Mathieu de Taillac. Registration at this link. In French and Spanish, with simultaneous translation.
Europe is currently facing numerous crises and threats in a world affected by increasingly marked forms of rivalry. The continent is reaching a decisive geopolitical turning point, notably with Russia’s attacks on Ukraine, which are shaking the notion of borders, the Covid-19 pandemic, which has highlighted Europe’s dependence in a globalised world, climate change and the erosion of biodiversity, as well as the proliferation of cyber-attacks.
In the face of all these factors of instability and disorder, what is Europe’s place on the international stage, what tools can it use as instruments of influence adapted to today’s challenges, and how can this European geopolitical narrative be constructed beyond the logic of blocs? Europe is more united than ever, but is it ready to assume its role as an international actor on its own?
