11th edition of ‘Todo Cine Todo Dominicana 2022’ to be held till 16th

 

The Embassy of the Dominican Republic, the Directorate General of Cinema of the Dominican Republic (DGCINE) and the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic in collaboration with the Centro León, will celebrate the eleventh edition of the Dominican film festival Todo Cine Todo Dominicana 2022 from tomorrow Tuesday until Friday 16 September at CINETECA, Naves del Matadero and Casa América.

 

The inaugural event will be tomorrow at 8pm in the Azcona room of CINETECA with the screening of the film Candela, by director Andrés Farías, who will be present with the actress Sarah Jorge to present the film.

 

On Wednesday, September 14th at 12 noon at Casa América, there will be a discussion on Dominican identities in local production: visibility and representation, with the participation of Marianna Vargas Gurilieva, director of the DGCINE, and the Dominican directors attending the Festival. The panel will be moderated by Centro León. In the evening, the film La fiera y la fiesta, by Laura Amelia Guzmán and Israel Cárdenas, will be screened at CINETECA at 19:00, and at 21:00 the film Liborio, by Nino Martínez Sosa, who will be present with the actor Vicente Santos for a discussion with the audience at the end of the screening.

 

On Thursday, September 15th, the film Dossier of Absences, by director Rolando Díaz, will be screened at 7pm in Casa América’s Sala Iberia. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the film’s protagonist, actress Judith Rodríguez. At the same time, the documentary Vals de Santo Domingo, by director Tatiana Fernández Geara, will be shown at CINETECA at the same time, and she will be present to talk to the public after the screening. At 21:00 the film Carajita, selected to represent the Dominican Republic at the 37th Goya Awards, will be screened at CINETECA.

 

Finally, on Friday, September 16, the festival will close with screenings at CINETECA of the film Una película sobre parejas, by directors Natalia Cabral and Oriol Estrada, who will be present to talk to the public, at 19:00; and the film Rafaela, by Tito Rodríguez, at 21:00. For the latter, the film’s protagonist, Judith Rodríguez, will be present for a discussion with the audience. The entire programme of the exhibition is available at this link.
