Actors Eusebio Poncela and Igor Yebra star in El beso de la mujer araña, a new version of the prestigious text written by Manuel Puig, at the Teatro Bellas Artes in Madrid (C/ Marqués de Casa Riera, 2).
El beso de la mujer araña (Kiss of the Spider Woman) talks about human relationships, the domination of some over others, freedom, identity, coercion… In a cell, two men share confessions.
In prison, Molina and Valentin are cellmates. One is locked up for seducing a minor, the other for political activism. To escape from reality, Molina evokes old films, with which he in turn reflects on his own life and his political and sexual identity; an inner struggle with many open wounds and a panther that never stops roaring.
A forbidden story that brings to light the human need to love. Valentín and Molina during their confinement are companions on an existential journey and, at the same time, a journey of liberation. It is a quasi-thriller that smacks of bolero. While death and torture reign outside their isolation, they dream of a world that is still waiting for a revolution. Political liberation comes through the liberation of bodies. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
