Iberdrola, through its subsidiary Neoenergia, has started up ‘Luzia’, its first solar power plant in Brazil, located in the state of Paraíba and whose installed capacity of the complex reaches 149 megawatts (MW), informed the energy company.

The development of renewable energy projects is part of the company’s strategy to expand generation from clean sources. In the first half of 2022, 436.4 million Brazilian reais (about 81 million euros) were earmarked for the new parks of the solar complex.

Neoenergia’s Director of Renewables, Laura Porto, stressed that this facility is “a strategic project” for the company and “innovative” for the Brazilian electricity sector, because it inaugurates the model of associated plants in line with the “most modern” regulations for hybrid projects, and directly influences the expansion and diversification of the company’s clean energy portfolio to position itself for the growing demand in the free mark.
