One of the most important and renowned pianists in the world, the maestro Kun-Woo Paik, will perform the suite Goyescas, by Enrique Granados, at the closing of the Classical Music Cycle Korea 2022 in collaboration with the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando.
This concert, organised by the Centro Cultural Coreano, will take place on Thursday 8 September at 12 noon in the Assembly Hall of the Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando (calle de Alcalá 13, 28014, Madrid). Kun-Woo Paik will perform the suite Goyescas (or Los Majos Enamorados), a collection of six pieces from Enrique Granados’ most mature period, together with the appendix El pelele, which is usually performed together with Goyescas. Each of these pieces is dedicated to a pianist of the period. Admission is free until full capacity is reached.
Kun-Woo Paik, born in South Korea, gave his first concert at the age of ten. At the age of fifteen he moved to New York to study with Rosina Lhevinne at the Julliard School and with Ilona Kabos in London. Paik is a Naumburg award winner and Gold Medalist at the Busoni International Piano Competitions. His international career took off after his first appearance in New York, where he played Ravel’s complete piano works at Lincoln Center, and his orchestral debut at Carnegie Hall.
