The regional court in Przemysl, Poland, which was considering a request from the Public Prosecutor’s Office to extend the pre-trial detention of Spanish journalist Pablo González, agreed to extend this precautionary measure for three months, sources from the Basque correspondent’s defence confirmed to Europa Press.

Pablo González was arrested in Poland on 28 February while he was covering the war in Ukraine. This Tuesday, his lawyer, Gonzalo Boye, has lamented on Twitter the news and the fact that his client is still incommunicado. “And he continues to be held incommunicado and without knowing the supposed evidence that they would have… they are only trying to bend his will,” he said.

Since his arrest, the journalist has been held incommunicado in Rzeswów prison, charged with the crime of espionage under Article 130(1) of the Polish Penal Code, according to his defence.
