The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement yesterday in which it “strongly condemns the brutal attack by the jihadist group Al Shabab against the Hayat Hotel in Mogadishu, Somalia, which after a 30-hour siege, caused a large number of deaths and injuries”.
The Government of Spain conveyed its sincere condolences to the families of the dead and wished a speedy recovery to all the wounded.
Spain also reiterated its support to the Government of Somalia in its fight against terrorism and reaffirmed its commitment to peace and security in Somalia.
The Somali Ministry of Health yesterday confirmed at least 21 dead and 117 wounded in the attack by the jihadist organisation, which led to a police siege of more than 24 hours against the entrenched terrorists.
