Acciona is nearing completion of construction work on the new control tower at Lima’s Jorge Chávez Airport, according to the Spain-Peru Council Foundation.

The works are 98% complete and, when finished, the tower will be 65 metres high and will occupy 1,600 of the 3,100 square metres of the project.

The company was awarded the construction of the tower in 2020 and since then has been working on this infrastructure in a consortium with Ferrovial and the Peruvian company JCC.

The work is part of the project to expand the Peruvian capital’s airport, which will make it one of the largest and most modern airports in South America.

The contract includes the civil and electromechanical works for the control tower and its auxiliary facilities, as well as all the building’s systems, services and installations, excluding the specialised communications, navigation and surveillance systems for air traffic management.
