LaLiga has launched LaLiga Plus, the new app that, together with Streamline, will connect Chinese fans with LaLiga Santander and LaLiga Smartbank starting this season, according to the Spain-China Council Foundation newsletter.
In recent seasons, LaLiga has made a significant effort to offer an increasingly personalised experience to all its fans in China. The partnership with Streamline allows LaLiga to go one step further in this goal by integrating sport, technology and other competition-related content in one place.
The app will offer different packages to fans through a freemium model combining free and paid matches. Fans will be able to enjoy all 380 LaLiga Santander matches and, for the first time in China, all 462 matches and the LaLiga Smartbank promotion play-offs will also be available to Chinese fans.
With this launch, LaLiga is the first major league to have a DTC (direct to consumer) solution in the country.
Sergi Torrents, director of LaLiga in China, said: “LaLiga Plus is the core of our strategy in China for the coming years. It is a first step in a complete ecosystem we are building to offer new and unique experiences and new products to fans. Together with Streamline, we are investing in technology, in the fan experience and in increasing the value of our brand and our business”.
In addition, alongside LaLiga Plus, LaLiga is working on agreements with other operators in the country to secure additional distribution of the competition.
