His Majesty the King has sent a telegram to the President of Angola, João Lourenço, in which he expresses his condolences to the Angolan Government and people on the death of the country’s former president from 1979 to 2017, José Eduardo dos Santos.

In his message, Don Felipe expresses his condolences on behalf of himself, the Government of Spain and the people of Spain on the death of the former president, of whom he highlights that, in very difficult times, he worked firmly to achieve peace and promote reconciliation and the reconstruction of the Angolan nation.

José Eduardo dos Santos died last Friday in a clinic in Barcelona, where he had been hospitalised since the end of June.
