Spain congratulated yesterday the President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, on his recent appointment as President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

During his mandate, President Umaro Sissoco Embalo “will continue to count on the support of Spain, which considers ECOWAS a strategic partner and a priority organization to face common challenges in the West African region,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement. Likewise, “Spain highlights and appreciates the remarkable work carried out by the Republic of Ghana at the helm of this presidency during the period that is now coming to an end,” it added.
