The president of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, José Luis Bonet, has defended the urgent internationalisation of SMEs, as a way to face and adapt to the new current paradigm. “Spanish companies have to adapt to globalisation. There are companies, mainly SMEs that have not internationalised and we have to support them in this process”, he said during the opening of the summer course “The global world under review: Politics, Industrialisation, Innovation, Digitalisation, Competitiveness and Governance“, which is being held at the Santander Campus of the Menendez Pelayo International University (UIMP).
“The Chambers”, he said, “must help and accompany companies that have not yet made the journey of internationalisation” and defended that even with the geopolitical changes, globalisation “does not stop, although it can evolve or change in appearance, with a realignment, and being a different globalisation”.
Bonet also stressed the opportunity represented for Spain by the 140,000 million Next Generation EU Funds, to make a “qualitative leap forward and transform the productive fabric”. According to Bonet, “the current situation imposes some ‘homework’ on Spain in the form of challenges and opportunities, although the opportunities are greater”.
