María Molina Álvarez de Toledo is the new Deputy Director General for Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), replacing María del Mar García Benasach, who was assigned to the Permanent Representation of Spain to the EU as coordinator.
The new deputy director general of CFSP takes up her post at a time when the director general of Foreign and Security Policy, Federico Torres Muro, is about to be appointed as the new ambassador to NATO, according to The Diplomat.
María Molina had been assigned to the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development (AEVID) since 2020, where she was head of the Department of Cooperation with the Arab World and Asia.
Previously, she had been posted as cultural counsellor at the Spanish embassies in the United States and Turkey, and was the ‘number two’ at the embassies in the Philippines and Bolivia.
