The Diplomat
Panama’s new ambassador to Spain, Allen Sellers Lara, presented his Copias de Estilo at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs earlier this month to the Ambassadors’ Introducer, María Sebastián de Erice.
In June, the Panamanian government decided to elevate Allen Sellers, who was the Embassy’s Minister Counsellor and had been acting as Chargé d’Affaires ad interim for almost a year, to the rank of Ambassador. The post of head of the Panamanian mission in Madrid was vacant, following the departure of the previous ambassador, the poet, journalist and diplomat Manuel Orestes Nieto, who had taken up the post at the end of 2019.
Prior to his stay in Spain, Allen Sellers had been economic advisor and Panama’s representative to the International Organisations based in Vienna.
A graduate in journalism from Columbia University, the new ambassador worked in the world of advertising before becoming a diplomat.
