The Chinese giant Envision and the Spanish Government signed last July 18 the collaboration protocol for the construction of a lithium battery gigafactory in Navalmoral de la Mata (Cáceres).
The agreement was signed by Envision’s Global CEO, Michael Ding, and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, in the presence of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the President of the Regional Government of Extremadura, Guillermo Fernández Vara. The event was also attended, via videoconference, by the CEO of Envision, Lei Xang, and representatives of Acciona, which will participate in the construction of this lithium battery plant.
According to the Ministry of Industry, the project will involve an investment of 2,500 million euros, the creation of 3,000 direct jobs and the generation of 100% green energy. For his part, Pedro Sánchez declared, after visiting the land of the future site, that this project is an example of a new economic model that favors the arrival of employment and welfare. Likewise, Guillermo Fernández Vara affirmed that, with the implementation of the lithium battery gigafactory in Navalmoral de la Mata, “this land is placed at the center of the new industries of the future”.
