The Korean government will hold a Korean promotion event in Madrid from 8 to 14 July under the title ‘K-Week, Imagine your Korea!’, with the aim of promoting Korean culture and encouraging Korean tourism. On 9 July, the Korean Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Park Bo Gyoon, will attend the event together with the Korean Ambassador to Spain, Bahk Sahnghoon.

Subsequently, on 11 July, Minister Park will participate in the Spain-Korea Tourism Forum, and that same evening he will host a gala dinner at the Real Casino de Madrid, which will be attended by Reyes Maroto, Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, and Fernando Valdés, Secretary of State for Tourism, as well as other important personalities from the tourism and cultural sector.

At the gala dinner, there will be a fashion show to present the traditional Korean costume, called ‘Hanbok‘, and a traditional dance with a traditional Korean instrument. In addition, during the dinner, diners will be able to taste the best dishes cooked with Korean ingredients.

The Spain-Korea Tourism Forum, to be held at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía on 11 July with the participation of experts from the intelligent tourism sector of both countries, will be an opportunity to share information and seek avenues for cooperation in this area.

On 8 and 9 July, the Korean Embassy in Spain, together with the Korea Tourism Organization, will set up a pavilion for the promotion of Korean tourism at the Palacio Neptuno, which will be open to both tourist entities and Spanish citizens, and where they will be able to find areas dedicated to Korean beauty (K-Beauty) and Korean food (K-Food). Similarly, the Korean Cultural Centre will be holding fashion exhibitions from 8 to 14 July, and Korean film screenings from 12 to 14 July.

Ambassador Bahk Sahnghoon will also attend the Jeju-Olle symbol installation inauguration ceremony to be held at Monte do Gozo in Galicia on 12 July. The Jeju-Olle Trail is known as the Korean Way of St. James and is inspired by it. The symbols of the Jeju-Olle trail will be placed on the last route of the Camino de Santiago, which has a large number of pilgrims. The ceremony will also be attended by the vice-governor of Jeju, Koo Man-sub, and the president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alfonso Rueda. To commemorate this milestone of cooperation between them, Jeju Island and the Xunta de Galicia will hold various cultural events, such as a show by Korean divers, the presentation of a Galician folklore show and a photo exhibition of Jeju Island tourism.

As part of the project to promote a symbolic joint stretch between the Camino de Santiago de Espana and the Jeju-Olle, a symbol of the Camino de Santiago will be established on the Jeju-Olle Way in the future.
