The Diplomat
The current Dutch ambassador to Spain, Jan Versteeg, will leave his post this summer after nearly three years in our country.
In recent months, the ambassador had to prepare for the March visit to Spain by the Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte, and also follow the stay of King William and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, who in February decided to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their marriage in Andalusia.
Versteeg, who has been appointed the new Dutch ambassador to Paris, will be replaced in Madrid by Roel Nieuwenkamp, the current Dutch ambassador to Argentina.
Roel Nieuwenkamp has held the post of ambassador in Buenos Aires for four years, after a career closely linked to economic affairs.
Between 2013 and 2018, the new ambassador in Madrid was chair of the International Committee for Corporate Social Responsibility Entrepreneurship in Paris (OECD) and the corresponding Complaints Reception System. Prior to that, he was Director of International Market Organisation and Trade Policy for the Ministries of Economy and Foreign Affairs, as well as Director of State Business at the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
