Diplomat Alonso Dezcallar is the new inspector general of services at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, replacing Ramiro Fernández-Bachiller, who was recently appointed Spanish ambassador to Poland.

Among the tasks of the General Inspectorate of Services, which includes several diplomats, is the preparation of reports on the situation in diplomatic representations abroad and the investigation of possible complaints filed by their employees.

Alonso Dezcallar is an experienced diplomat who joined the diplomatic service in 1985 and until just over two months ago was Spain’s ambassador to Croatia. Previously, he was ambassador to Mauritania and ambassador on special mission for the Coordination of Ibero-American Affairs. He has also been posted to Italy, Peru, Uruguay and Morocco.
