Chile’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Antonia Urrejola, will meet her Spanish counterpart, José Manuel Albares, in Madrid next Friday, in what will be the first visit to Spain by a member of Gabriel Boric’s government.
It will be the first time that Urrejola and Albares will have the opportunity to talk face-to-face, as last March the Spanish minister was forced to cancel his presence in Santiago de Chile, together with the King, at Boric’s inauguration, due to the war situation in Ukraine.
However, Urrejola had already been in contact with the State Secretary for Ibero-America, Juan Fernández-Trigo, when he visited Chile in February, weeks before Boric took office.
According to reliable sources, the Chilean foreign minister could discuss with Albares, among other matters, the preparation of a visit to Spain by Boric, who has close ties with the leaders of Unidas Podemos.
During his stay in Madrid, Urrejola is also scheduled to speak on Thursday 30 at the Efe Tribune held at Casa América.
