His Majesty the King will receive the President of the United States, Joe Biden, who will arrive in Madrid to take part in the NATO Summit on the 29th and 30th, at the Torrejón air base on Tuesday, 28th, according to sources at the Zarzuela Palace.

Air Force One will land in Torrejón in the early afternoon from Germany, where he will have attended the G-7 summit at Elmau Castle in the Bavarian Alps. Don Felipe will welcome him to Spain, a country he visited in 2010 when he was Vice-President.

After passing through La Moncloa Palace to meet with the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, Biden will head to the Royal Palace, where he will hold a meeting with the Monarch.

At Moncloa, Biden and Sánchez will hold their first formal meeting, beyond the brief contacts held at international meetings. Afterwards, both will appear before journalists, although it has not been confirmed that their presence will go beyond a statement without questions.

The President of the Government has other bilateral meetings scheduled, taking advantage of the presence of numerous leaders at the NATO Summit. Specifically, with the prime ministers of Australia, New Zealand, Iceland and Canada, according to what Moncloa confirmed yesterday.

Thus, early on Tuesday, he will receive the Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, in the first official visit of the Australian head of government to our country.

He will then hold a meeting with Jacinda Arden, the Prime Minister of New Zealand, with whom Sánchez has a “magnificent” relationship, according to Moncloa sources. These sources point out that the aim of this meeting is to strengthen the strategic partnership that unites the two countries.

Sánchez will have lunch that day with the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, and, after his meeting with Biden, he will receive the Prime Minister of Iceland, Katrín Jakobsdóttir.

On Thursday, the 30th, at the end of the summit, the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, will visit Moncloa.

With all of them and the rest of the heads of the delegations attending the summit, Sánchez will attend the gala dinner hosted by the King at the Royal Palace.
