Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares yesterday described the European Commission’s opinion on Ukraine’s membership application as “positive and balanced”.
The European Commission yesterday supported granting Ukraine candidate status to join the European Union, but with conditions. “Ukraine has already implemented approximately 70% of European rules, norms and standards,” said Brussels, whose recommendation will serve as a basis for discussion by European leaders during the European Council on June 23-24. “The European Commission’s view on Ukraine’s application to the European Union is positive and balanced,” Albares said via his official Twitter account.
