As part of the FILMADRID Festival, the Spanish premiere of the Austrian film Beatrix, with the presence of one of its directors, Lilith Kraxner, and the leading actress, Eva Sommer, will be held until Sunday 12 of this month.
This film, recommended by the Foro Cultural de Austria in Madrid, tells how Beatrix is alone at home. Most of the time. In a house she does not own. A house in which she lives only temporarily. Nothing more is known about the protagonist of the film or the circumstances of her stay. It is precisely because of this limited amount of information available to the viewer that this situational film, working with actors and an element of mise-en-scène, ultimately becomes a distinctive existential study. Brief seconds reflecting the passage of time, the aimless persistence in a moment, come to the forefront. Moreover, the camera’s permanent focus on the film’s main protagonist conveys to the viewer the physical nature of her body captured in space as something at once familiar and strange.
