The Korean designer and founder of the CAHIERS brand, Kim A-Young, arrives in Madrid with her Korean fashion exhibition: K-Fashion, which will be on display at the Centro Cultural Coreano (Paseo de la Castellana, 15).
The exhibition will showcase the latest designs from his S/S 2022 collection, inspired by Korean palaces and Hanbok, traditional Korean clothing, recently exhibited at Seoul Fashion Week 2022. The exhibition can be visited free of charge until 29 July at the Han-ul Gallery (Ground Floor) of the Centre from Monday to Friday from 10am to 7pm.
Under the theme #LoViejovisteloNuevo, designer Kim A-Young (Busan, 1976) explores the world of Hanbok, offering a more contemporary perspective and a great sense of balance between practicality and creativity. Kim makes use of a three-dimensional pattern based on the graceful curves of the ladies of the royal court and the sharp, elegant lines of the eaves of the Korean palace of the Joseon dynasty (1392-1897). Their romantic and dreamy designs create a space of calm and tranquillity. They feature delicate couture details in which she makes use of ruffles, trimmings and appliqués. Without colouring or printing techniques, she uses neutral colours that give the garments a sense of simplicity, elegance and harmony with fluid silhouettes and volume, the hallmarks of CAHIERS.
This exhibition is part of K-WEEK, organised by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST), the Korean Culture and Information Service (KOCIS), the Centro Cultural Coreano and the Paris Tourist Office.
