The Council of Ministers approved on Tuesday an agreement to purchase three armoured vehicles for the protection of the Spanish Embassy in Kiev (Ukraine), for an amount of 399,505.50 euros.
The purchase of the vehicles, which has been processed through the emergency procedure, is due to the need to reinforce the security of the Spanish diplomatic representation and its workers, given the risk of aggression that exists throughout the country, following the Russian invasion.
The measure is intended to ensure the movement of embassy staff, including the ambassador, Silvia Cortes, who returned to Kiev on 22 April, after the government decided to reopen the diplomatic representation, which had been closed the day after Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
